The Impact Fame Has on the Personal Life of a Celebrity
Jun 24th
Celebrities have a huge impact on peoples’ lives in the world today. A lot of people can’t go through one day without checking the web, or their favorite celebrity magazine to read about the latest celebrity gossip, and the most up to the minute juicy tidbit of news about their favorite famous person. Celebrities can range from an actor or actress, singer, writer, movie producer or director, or reality show contestant. There are also people who are famous for “being famous”, such as Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie.
Most people just gobble up any item of “news” that they can get about their favorite celebrities. It is too easy to focus on someone else’s problems, so you don’t have to give attention to your own difficulties! What these people don’t think about is the fact that the more they read about and purchase information about these celebrities, the less privacy these people have in their lives. It’s really no wonder that the majority of celebrities out there today mess up do often – they are under a serious amount of pressure!
When someone finally reaches “celebrity status” in today’s world, it is great at first. They start to get recognized on the street every now and again, and every once in a while, they will get a meal for free just because the restaurant owner or manager is a big fan of the television show that they appear on. After a while, however, after they have climbed higher on the celebrity ladder, it gets to be not so much fun for these people. The paparazzi follow them everywhere they go, usually taking very awful and embarrassing pictures that cause fans to think that they are anorexic or pregnant or near death. The paparazzi don’t just follow them on the street, but they also hide in trees near these celebrities’ homes, taking pictures of their private, personal lives and printing them for the entire world to see the next day.
Being in the public eye so much definitely has a huge impact on the personal lives of our celebrities. When you think about it, if you could not leave your house to take a walk, or go to the local café for a latte without being swamped by cameras and reporters, your life wouldn’t be much of a life either! Celebrities also receive phone calls every now and again from worried friends and relatives who see the tabloids in the grocery store and think that their friend or relative is dead or terminally ill, or about to split up with their spouse. The tabloids and magazines pretty much have a 100% record of being completely untrue, but people still worry!
Even when celebrities want to get married, they sometimes have to choose a spouse who is also in the public eye, because when someone is not used to the cameras and craziness, it can be too much for them to handle, along with a new marriage. Also, any person made famous from a movie, Reality TV show or game show who dates a non famous person, cannot help but wonder if their significant other would want to be with them if they were not a celebrity. When celebrities do get married and have children, life is harder for their families as well because of their parents’ celebrity status.

Celebrity Gossip – Effect on Celeb Life
Jun 24th
We know that the lives of the celebrities provide fodder celebrity gossip sites. The celeb gossip columns move in ebb and tide, resonating with the influence of the personal lives, achievements and involvements of the celebrities. But this flow is not a one-way movement. There are times when the entertainment news sites and publications make a strong impact on the lives of the celebrities. And then you find that the real world is being controlled and even dictated by the power of the written word. That’s when you begin to assess the true impact of what is written in the paparazzi scoop columns.
Let us study this strange phenomenon with an example. We know the celebrity gossip sites publish news and update that deal with their personal lives. Sometimes celeb gossip sites move away from their point of focus and depend on unreliable sources of information. They pass off distorted facts as paparazzi scoops. Reputed entertainment news sites cannot wash their hands off this blame. If they carry a story about an extramarital affair that is just not there, the spouse or the partner of the persons in question may be tempted to believe the story, coming as it is from authentic sources of information. The scandal sees the light of the day and nothing remains the same anymore.
Another example of celebrity gossip sites controlling real life is when the celebs have something nasty to say about their peers. More often than not, the comments made by the celebrity are blown out of proportion by the celeb gossip sites. Then there is a war of words on the entertainment news portals. And what could have been solved amicably between closed doors suddenly becomes a media circus. When these things happen, relationships are sometimes damaged for life. There have been break-ups and splits because the truth in some of these supposed paparazzi scoops are not so true after all.
Another way in which celebrity gossip sites affect celeb life is by getting them to know the whereabouts and actions of each other. If any celeb pays close attention to the celeb gossip sites, they can easily find out what their persons of interest are doing. They instantly know who is dating whom and who their exes are! This information bank is sometimes necessary when you want to get into a commitment with a celebrity. Entertainment news portals help other celebs in this rather bizarre way! But all is not lost because celebs also know the power and reach of these paparazzi scoop portals. They use these sites without any qualms when it comes to promoting their films and talking about their upcoming projects. It’s all on how you want to see it, because accept it or not, celebrity gossip sites are now part of the legitimate media.

Make Money As a Paparazzi!
Jun 24th
I’m going to go into detail on how make money as a paparazzi. There are two types of paparazzi you have the amateur and the professional. Both types of paparazzi can make allot of money. The first step in making money is finding the celebrities, without a celebrity making money will be impossible. The easiest and best way to find out where celebrities go is to do a Google search for the following keywords; Celebrity Events, Celebrity Hot Spots, Celebrity Spotting, Paparazzi hot spots, etc… Write down all the locations where celebrities frequent so you don’t forget the locations.
Now that you have the locations you will now need to buy a camera. The type of camera you buy should be based on whether you want to do it as a fan or professional paparazzi. I recommend starting out slow and buy a cheap point and shoot camera. Make sure the camera is at least 5 mega pixels. If you decide to buy a professional camera buy a min Canon 20D which can be purchased for about $300 on eBay or Craigslist. I recommend a 50 D. assuming you purchased a professional camera now you need a flash for night shooting. I recommend min a 430 EX and high end you can get a 530 EX 2.
Ok now we will talk about what kind of paparazzi pictures sell. Once you see a famous person wait for them to do something like eating, kissing a friend, buying something etc. The idea is to catch them doing something! Just taking a picture of them walking sometimes isn’t good enough. I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars off pictures of celebrities making out in nightclubs. The money shots are celebrities doing drugs, drinking, car accidents, fighting, signing autographs at movie premiers, you get the picture. Now that you got the money shot next thing is to find a paparazzi agency that will edit, market your celebrity pictures and sell them to the tabloids.
Now the question is how often and when do you get paid? Your first check from an agency can take up to 12 weeks often sooner. After your first check the money comes on a monthly basis sometimes allot sooner depending if you shoot video or still pictures. Video money comes in allot faster usually in 2 weeks or less.
Now hurry and go out and buy your camera and start making money!

Famous People Photos From the Photographers Perspective
Jun 24th
Looking back on over 25 years in the photo business, and still counting, my memories often flip between thousands of captured moments in black and white and then back to the same strange world in color. For over a decade of my career I was living and working in Los Angeles, California, taking photos of celebrities and most often on the red carpet.
From that description you might think I was one of the paparazzi, those obnoxious stalkers of famous people photos. I may have stood side by side with some of the paparazzi during my time on the red carpet, but I was hunting for a very different type of image.
It started back in March 1992 when I was hired as a runway photographer for that years Academy Awards. As someone who enjoys shooting people, I have always valued the subtleties of any shoot. To get the best results, you must pay attention to all the details; the styling of clothes and hair, the make up, the weather and angles of light wherever they are coming from and the various facial expressions of the subject.
When hunting for perfect famous people photos, you may take thousands of photos during an event and from all those exposures you are very lucky to get one or two good shots. It is very rare that all these puzzle pieces come together in one click. This is probably why most paparazzi shoot for quantity, not quality.
My official job on that sunny day back in March (and for the next 10 years) was to shoot the standard posed paparazzi style famous people photos. My agency wanted standing, smiling at the camera type shots ready to be splashed on the tabloids all over the world the next day. It took me only a few seconds to realize that I would be missing a huge opportunity if I limited photos to such a narrow view.
As I stood shoulder to shoulder with the other photographers on the world’s most famous 60 yards of carpet watching the waves of celebrity pass only a few feet in front of me, I played a dual role. I was one cameraman for my agency snapping the standard famous people photos and with my second camera and mini telephoto lens, I shot for my personal collection, mostly in black and white.
For as many years as I covered the Academy Awards, there is really nothing that can prepare you for such an event. Aside from the time pressures and all the technical maneuvers this sort of shoot requires, the near circus atmosphere all around you creates an unusual work zone.
The event attracts hundreds of photographers lined up side by side with TV crews, reporters and producers all dressed in black tie and evening gowns. There are long lines of parking attendants in red uniforms, huge throngs of fans screaming to be heard by their favorite star and a dozen helicopters circling endlessly like bees round a hive. In less than two hours over a thousand limousines drop off celebrity after celebrity with each stars arrival pushing that invisible “on” button for the media machine setting off a shock and awe of flashes and activity.
And deep within the madness that is The Oscars, somewhere behind all the smiles, bright lights and endless interviews are those magic moments waiting to be captured. With my old 35 mm SLR and mini telephoto lens, I waited for the perfect break in the storm that is the red carpet. In an odd way, as those famous faces crossed my path; the mix of screen legends, super models, music icons, foreign directors and action heroes, my mind became still. My senses all joined together in my virtual hunt for those perfect famous people photos and my work took on a very meditative quality.
These types of photos are few and far between, but they tell a story that the average celebrity shot just can not. With a lot of care and patience and a little luck, a photo can open a doorway into the mystery that we all love to create around our celebrities. As any movie fan can tell you, a smiling head shot is fine, but famous people photos that cut through the facade, even a little bit, are worth their weight in gold. These are the images that raise our awareness of the individual as well as the art form.
I no longer live in Los Angeles and no longer shoot the annual event known around the world as The Oscars. My photography muse has taken me into other aspects of the medium, but whenever I want to revisit those magical afternoons I can simply pull out my special book, my famous people photos, the ones I carefully hunted down oh so long ago and am still proud of to this day.

The Role of the Paparazzi in Celebrity Weddings
Jun 24th
Paparazzi have become a stable part of today’s media. If a celebrity’s aiming to have a private Santa Barbara wedding, you can be sure there will be paparazzi there waiting. At every destination wedding photographers will have their cameras out and ready to get a shot of the happy couple. While the nature of invading ones privacy would come as morally questionable to most of the public, members of the paparazzi are forever looking for photographs that could land those millions of dollars. When this kind of money is in question, issues of morality and ethics tend to take a backseat.
While it could be expected that tabloid journalists would feel a pang of guilt for their behavior, most see themselves as fulfilling a desire from the public. This can hardly be denied, as the popularity of magazines that sell photographs of celebrities without make-up, out with their family or, indeed, getting married is staggering. These images allow readers to move past the heavily made-up, airbrushed and generally “fake” celebrities, and see that those we idolize as somehow above us are human after all.
The invention of the internet seems to have increased the popularity of tabloid journalism. While newspapers are slowly suffering an increasingly bleak loss in sales, many reporters of substantial news stories have been put out of work. For those who provide celebrity gossip and photos, however, there remains plenty of work available, and even respected newspapers have tabloid journalism at the forefront of their websites. The question of why this is can be answered easily: The lives of celebrities attract greater numbers of readers.
Consider the big weddings in recent times such as Brad and Angelina, Tom and Kate, Jennifer and Ben. The bride and groom at each of these weddings took extreme care to control the media presence at these events. In fact, these celebrities saw it fit to take control of the way their wedding is portrayed, agreeing to only certain reporters having access to their wedding, and having these reporters agree to a set version of events to take back to the news desk.
This control of the media has become necessary due to the pressure celebrities feel to provide information to their fans. Each of the three couples mentioned above also took it upon themselves to release a few pre-approved photos of their weddings to the media, in order to placate their need for images of the event, and to lessen the value of paparazzi images that may have been taken.
The nature of the paparazzi today has become unnecessarily invasive. The deeper issue that needs to be considered here, however, is why there is the desire of “normal” individuals to peer into the private lives of others. As long as this need is in place, the paparazzi will always have an audience of paying customers. So long as the money is there, someone will be willing to go into uncertain ethical territory, in order to get the massive payday on offer.

Celebrity Gossip – The Price of Fame
Jun 24th
Fame can be costly at times. The wide range of celebrity gossip sites provide proof of the fact that people like talking and knowing about celebrities. The vast popularity of the celeb gossip portals see a lot of traffic each day, asserting it that people love to read about them and be updates. Entertainment news sites are coming up every other day to keep you posted on what is happening in tinsel town. But this life is something that gets under the skin of the celebrities. They complain that their every little act or the lack of it is reported in the columns.
Celebrities have a major complaint against the celebrity gossip portals. The complaint is simple: they need to be left alone when they want their private moments to remain so. Celeb gossip sites are in no mood to relent because trespassing into the private lives of the celebrities is their bread and butter. They are only feeding an insatiable demand of the readers of the entertainment news columns. Nothing makes these portals tick than inside scoops about what is happening behind the scenes. The paparazzi would give an arm and a leg for a shot of a celebrity hanging around with an extra-marital partner.
The debate boils down to the basics: are celebrity gossip sites the price that celebrities pay. There are some celebrities who like to take the celeb gossip sites in their stride. They shrug them off with the comment that they worked hard to get noticed, so they don’t have any problem with the paparazzi taking pictures of them at random. Many of these celebrities are accustomed to their private moments being splashed all over the newsprint and the internet. They have grown used to the fact and they can live around with this lack of privacy as necessary evil.
Come to think of it, celebrity gossip sites do things the right way, when there is an opportunity. If you are an entertainment news junkie, you know that there are these times when the celeb gossip sites pay the celebrity for shots of their wedding or even of their newborns. Sometimes the celebs relent and they make tons of dough on the deals of the pictures. There are other times when the celebrity decides to keep things under wraps. That’s when the reporters working on the beat decide to get adventurous. They think of ways to crack open the security ring that the celebrities throw upon themselves.
A famous case is when Catherina Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas got married. Despite the millions of dollars and the police and the private security protecting them from the paparazzi, and each guest personally welcomed by the marriage planner himself with the help of an undisclosed security code, an ingenuous person still got in and took snaps! The celebrity gossip magazine that published the pictures got sued but this set an historical example that no celebrity and no event was away from the infiltration of celeb gossip reporters!

The Real Truth About Celebrities
Jun 23rd
Celebrities have a mesmerizing personality charisma. Fans, followers, journalists, paparazzi and even the critics want to know each and every thing in the life of celebrities. What they are up to, where they hang out, what are the projects they are working on, why they behave like this and like that! The quest never ends. Newspapers and television programs try their best to hunt for the latest sizzling celebrity news, hot and happening celebrity photos and spicy celebrity gossips.
People are fascinated about the glamour and glory of the world of celebrities. This is the life of ease and comfort with all the amenities, name and fame; this is what they think. Fans look at their heroes as if they were the denizens from some other world or the stars descended upon the earth.
But this is only the other side of the celebrity world. Celebrities don’t attain the dizzy heights of eminence overnight. Scores of years of relentless efforts, diligence and perseverance are what make a celebrity. So many compromises and adjustments they have to make. Most of the celebrities in the world have made their way through out of nothing. Sometimes they may have trampled down someone else as well to achieve what they wanted to. Even when enjoying the fruits of success, these famous personalities have to go through many ordeals.
It may be taken as a harsh fact or some may even call it the necessity of the celeb life. Many of these celebrities have at least two faces; one for a public display and the other a private one. You can get my point if you have a look at some of the exclusive celebrity pictures available.
For example a photo showing Angelina Jolie in some casual moments and the other one showing her in Kashmir (India) with simple folks or a pick capturing contemplative Charlize Theron in Johannesburg and the other one showing her in Malibu posing for paparazzi will prove the point. These celebrities too are the human beings with all feelings and sensations awake. Their public life makes them put a mask of mannerism on their faces. But actually many of these celebrities yearn for a simple quiet life.
Are these celebrities allowed a single moment privacy? Hardly they are. Always sought after by the paparazzi, they can hardly be all themselves. That’s what makes them famous; but after a few years these personalities start asking themselves a grave question: “Is my life worth living?” Imagine what Lindsay Lohan must have gone through when the media went trailing her around when she was drinking and when her lose fitting halter top and a forceful breeze made her even go topless before the world. What an embarrassment for her!
The world of fashion for instance, has got its own evil face. If a model wants to elbow her way through in this field, he/ she will have to please many in every way possible. That’s what is called a struggle in simple words. When we read the news about the sex scandals and mental tortures in the celebrity world, it should make this other black side visible.
The huge amassment of wealth is yet another major concern for the celebrities. How to spend this money becomes the problem. Celebrities lose their peace of mind. And then comes the news of some superstar sniffing drugs, indulging in wanton sexual pleasures or getting arrested for some illegal activities. Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson are proof enough.
No one is completely white or completely black. We all are gray. People make a mistake in expecting their heroes to be perfect in every possible manner. Celebrities, too, do have their own flaws and frailties. They remain unnoticed and this becomes the reason enough for someone like me to reveal the real truth about celebrities.

Celebrity Gossip – An Interview With Entertainment News Leader Colin Drummond
Jun 23rd
Colin Drummond, the former Producer of TMZ Celebrity News is a leader in the entertainment industry with extensive experience in film production, prominent business connections and a penchant and knack for capturing the everyday actions of fascinating people in the public eye. Drummond is now CEO and founder of a recently launched entertainment news agency dedicated to distributing photographs, video and humanistic news stories about politicians, and celebrities in the Washington, DC arena and worldwide.
Who makes the headlines and how does an entertainment news agency provide up-to-the-minute exclusive video and photos of headlining politicians, celebrities and public officials? Dorothy Dutch asked probing questions of Colin Drummond to get to the heart of the paparazzi phenomena. For those of us who unabashedly enjoy flipping through celebrity photo stories on line or off, it can be even more satisfying if we understand the world of the candid camera.
This interview session is aimed at the journalists who give us our daily doses of unethical behavior, celebrity photos, gossip, news articles, and entertainment news even before prime time entertainment shows enter our living rooms. Drummond’s answers offer a surprising eye view of a world behind the candid cameras of the paparazzi.
Dorothy Dutch: Are paparazzi also writers or mainly just photographers?
Colin Drummond: Most are photographers or former photographers who go on to start their own agencies. They work at a day rate (standard pay for a day). This is known as freelancing. It’s better for them because they still own their images or videos. Most paparazzi are freelance photographers who work for agencies who sell their photos and the agency takes a cut. A good agency has a strong sales team and can get photos on T.V. shows, magazines, billboards, and even inside movie marketing material.
DD: What qualifications must a paparazzo have?
CD: A pap has to have workable camera equipment, knowledge of celebrities, know how to take photos, and be able to ask great questions. For equipment they need plenty of camera gear, a fast SLR camera, a few good lens, (very costly) and a HD Video camera.
DD: Can anyone do it?
CD: Yes and No. Anyone can get lucky and capture a great picture by being in the right place at the right time, but doing it day after day requires hard work and dedication to your craft. DD: The paparazzi are perceived as “pests” to be avoided because they will do anything to get a picture. Are they that bad?
CD: Not really. Those who have been in the business for awhile have good relationships with all the celebrities. They usually know how close they can get to someone or who they need to use their long lens on.
DD: Is it true that they will literally provoke a subject into anger in order to get a more candid, unflattering shot and if not, why do you think the paparazzi are so disliked that fights break out?
CD: No. Fights are usually initiated by overzealous bodyguards or hangers on who really don’t understand the business and think they are helping the stars out. There have been times when bodyguards have even been fired for getting too aggressive
DD: What stars and famous people have you photographed who actually enjoy working with the paparazzi?
CD: Hands down, Tom Cruise, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Hugh Jackman, Larry King.
DD: Which celebrities do you know who want to avoid them?
CD: Gwenyth Paltrow, Scarlett Johanson, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Cher, Barbara Streisand DD: Do politicians on the Washington scene resist photographers?
CD: No, at first politicos didn’t understand the paparazzi game in DC, but now they realize they are public figures and since technology has evolved they should try to use it to their advantage.
DD: Is it different following high level political figures than it is to photograph film and television stars?
CD: Yes, they often look at you as if to ask, “Why are you taking my photo on the streets? I’m no celebrity.” But these days all politicians know they have to be visual to appeal to the younger market and to represent their districts. Some are even flattered that their constituents are seeing them in magazines.
DD: If an agency covers a geographic area like Washington, DC, do the paparazzi follow the celebs and politicians as they leave town or go out of the country?
CD: Not necessarily, but if a politician has a great (hot) story, you can bet that he or she will be tailed. The freelance photographer will pay for his or her own transportation, but if working with an agency, the agency will pay airfare, food and lodging.
DD: Are paparazzi invited to any major events or do they just have to wait around outside until all the celebrities enter or emerge?
CD: Some moonlight and shoot red carpet events, but the real hard core photographers don’t like these functions because they are controlled situations and the photos aren’t worth as much as candid street photos.
DD: I have also heard that they do not care about the laws restricting photographs of celebs to public places. They are willing to pay the fines in order to get great shots. Is this generally the case?
CD: This is not usually true because most know that magazines will not buy photos of celebrities in restricted areas. Agencies also prefer to keep their names in good graces with the celebrities and their public relations people, so agencies will not jeopardize that standing.
DD: Can you tell me about a personal experience you have had with a celeb that you will never forget?
Once I was working on Paul McCartney during his huge divorce scandal. As five other paparazzi where waiting outside his house in NYC Paul just walked out and none of the other five saw him leave. I followed him for about a block and then he stopped and posed for me, thinking those where the photos I wanted. I let him walk through Manhattan without photographing him and he went to have dinner. I just waited outside, and then when he came back outside, he said he had given me the photos so why was I still following him. I said, “Sir Paul, I am not taking anymore photos of you out of respect, but I am working on an assignment for a newspaper in London and they want to know everything you do today”. He started laughing and asked me what newspaper it was, and I told him it was The Daily Mail and he laughed again.
DD: Is there competition from the general public (with all the digital cameras) who are submitting great shots to various publications?
CD: Of course, but the difference is, the general public does not consistently know when or have the patience to take the really great shot. Sometimes you have to let the celebrity do something which the public is waiting to see. For example, a new couple who is rumored to be dating but they keep denying it and the general public sees them in the streets out an about. But, the best photo of them would be taken if the photographer knows to wait until they hold hands, or even kiss. Big Money Shot!
DD: Do you have a staff of writers to incorporate the news with the celebrity photos?
CD: Yes we have a few writers, and try to team up our writers within their strengths. One might love music and will write on all the musical artists. Another might love female fashions and would get that story, but most of all everyone is celebrity and political news clued.
